Montana 988

  • Provides free and confidential support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • All calls are answered by trained crisis workers at three regional call centers around the State.
  • All Montana crisis centers are accredited, provide training for counselors, and use trauma-informed best practices.
  • Local counselors at crisis centers are familiar with community mental health resources that are part of the Montana 211 network.
  • Effective, life-saving safety net for those experiencing a mental health crisis, especially those with nowhere else to turn.

Veterans & Service Members

If you are a Veteran or Service Member, please call 988 and Press 1, or text 838255. You can also access confidential, 24/7 support online by visiting the Veterans Crisis Line.

Deaf & Hard of Hearing

If you are deaf, hard of hearing, or experiencing hearing loss, you can connect directly with a 988 counselor through the following methods:

  • 988 Videophone: Access direct ASL services by dialing 988 from your videophone.
  • Text Support: Text 988 directly from any cell phone.
  • Online Chat: Chat live online at chat.988lifeline.org.
  • TTY Users: Use your preferred relay service, or dial 711 then 988.

Maternal Health

The National Maternal Mental Health Hotline (https://mchb.hrsa.gov/programs-impact/national-maternal-mental-health-hotline) provides free, confidential support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can call or text 1-833-TLC-MAMA (1-833-852-6262) or webchat http://(https://mchb.hrsa.gov/net/mchb-web-chat/chat.html) to connect with a trained counselor who will listen, provide support, and connect you with resources.

Lincoln County Behavioral Health Coalition

The Lincoln County Behavioral Health Coalition brings together community partners, healthcare/ mental health providers, and individuals with lived experience to focus on the growing behavioral health needs of the county.  Members work to identify gaps in services, share resources, and coordinate efforts in order to support the wellbeing of our community members.

The coalition includes committees and work groups to enhance the county’s crisis response systems, map available behavioral health resources, decrease stigma around mental health, and bridge gaps in services.  If you are interested in participating in the Behavioral Health Coalition, please email the Behavioral Health Manager, Kelcy Meyer, at kmeyer@libby.org.

Teen Mental Health First Aid

Teen Mental Health First Aid gives you the skills to recognize when someone is facing mental health or substance use challenges — and the confidence to be their first source of support.  Lincoln County Health Department facilitates Teen Mental Health First Aid curriculum to youth in the community.  For more information or to join our team of certified instructors, please call 406-283-2467.
