Disease Prevention

Working to reduce the spread of disease through prevention, tracking, and public health response.

What is a Communicable Disease?

A communicable disease is defined as an infectious disease that can be transmitted between persons and species through either direct or indirect transmission or other vectors (animals & insects). See CDC disease links below for more information on specific communicable diseases.

Reportable Conditions

Administrative Rules of Montana (37.114) contain general provisions for reporting and control measures for communicable diseases in Montana. Conditions should be reported to the Public Health Nurse at (406) 283-2447 or fax reports securely to (406) 283-2466. We will then report this information to the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services – Communicable Disease Control and Prevention Program.
